"Excellent musicianship is obvious throughout the recording … West of Rome is just simple enough to be considered folk, and just deep enough to be considered alternative."
CNI Newspapers
"Filled with gritty melodies and rich songwriting, "Cranberry Sauce" contains more musical honesty than the pre-packaged bands that tend to dominate radio today. The perfect complement to any music collection."
Kane County Chronicle
"Hey, yeah, I think I've heard of you guys."
Peter Buck at the Crocodile Café, July 2001
West of Rome's sweet vocal harmonies and irony-free approach recall the Southern California sounds of the early '70s - minus the Nudie suits and six-shooters. Their music recreates the vanishing stillness of rural life, but rejects easy condemnations of modernity.
